Merlin Brings Liam’s Deer Home in 14½ Minutes

Apparently Rosie wasn’t going to be the only one putting deer on the tailgate that day. Merlin the Magician had a young hunter to help.

Nine-year-old Liam made a 25-yard shot from a tree stand. The deer may have been standing at more of an angle than it first appeared, carrying the arrow a little farther back than intended. When there was no more blood to follow, Liam’s dad, Jordan Tucker, trusted us to bring in a dog.

That gave Merlin the opportunity to sort it out—and the Magician delivered.

Just 14½ minutes after Merlin went to work, Liam had his deer.

There’s not much better than getting to be a small part of a young hunter’s success. Congratulations, Liam, and a big thank-you to Jordan for trusting Merlin and me.

Rosie got us started, and Merlin wasn’t about to let her have all the glory. Two dogs, two recoveries, and two more deer on the tailgate.
