Merlin and Lenny’s Kentucky Giant

This recovery raised the bar for our tailgate.

Lenny Hatch called us after an uncertain hit on an absolute Kentucky giant. His buddy Josh Dixon joined the track, and we headed in with Merlin the Magician to see if we could help bring the buck home.

As we worked, we heard coyotes howling in the middle of the day. Then we noticed buzzards circling in the same general direction. Those clues caught our attention, so we started working Merlin that way.

Not long afterward, we were standing over a giant.

At the time of the recovery, this was the biggest buck we had put on the tailgate. Early estimates placed him somewhere in the 170-plus range, but he had not been officially scored. Whatever the final measurement, he was an incredible deer and a memorable recovery for our team.

Huge congratulations to Lenny on a buck of a lifetime. Thank you to Lenny and Josh for trusting us to be part of getting him home, and a big thank-you to Tim Harris with H & H Processing for the referral.
