Merlin the Magician: The Tail Never Lies
Rosie has been putting in some awesome work on a few tough non-recoveries, but after sitting out the last couple, Merlin the Magician got the call on this one.
Blake Hostetler knew his shot was farther back than he wanted, and he did everything right. Instead of pushing the deer, he backed out, gave it time, and protected the track for the dog. With very limited blood to work with, those decisions can make all the difference.
Merlin went right to work on this liver-hit 8-point. The buck traveled about 225 yards before bedding, and as soon as Merlin hit that first bed, there it was...
The tail wag. 👀🐾
That's usually our cue to start clearing room on the tailgate.
About 25 yards later, we were standing over Blake's buck. 🦌
Huge congratulations to Blake, and a big thank-you for trusting us and handling this one exactly the way you should. He gave that deer time, gave the dog a clean track, and we got the ending everybody wanted.
It's already been a busy morning. Before this one, we tracked a giant and bumped him alive from his bed. So we're 2-for-2 on finding deer this morning—one alive, one on the tailgate—and we're headed to track #3 right now. 🐾
If you enjoy watching Rose the Nose and Merlin the Magician work, give us a like and follow along. Plenty more season ahead!
And a big thank-you to Echos Deer Recovery - K9 & Drone for sending this track our way. We appreciate the referral! 🤝🐾
Don't let one get away... Send in the Hounds! 🦌🐾
